Nationally, 500,000 children are sexually abused each year (Finkelhor, 1994).

In 90 percent of child sexual abuse cases, the child knows and trusts the person who commits the abuse (Finkelhor, 1994). 

A child abuse report is made on average every 10 seconds (US Dept of Health & Human Services, 2005).

1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by the age of 18. 

Only 1 in 10 children who are sexually abused will ever disclose their abuse. 

80% of child sexual abuse occurs in a one on one situation. 

Last year, Bright Tomorrows CAC conducted 112 forensic interviews.  

73% of the children who received counseling services at Bright Tomorrows CAC showed improvement after successfully completing treatment.
